Obituary

John Edward Roane passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and spent most of his life as a resident of Laplace, LA with his loving wife of 53 years, Thelma Brelet Roane. John served in the US Navy for over 7 years and was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. John enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and was quite the cook especially when boiling crawfish. He enjoyed spending time with his family, most of all his grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Moren Roane and Doris Geisenheimer Roane; his grandson, Jason Tyler Rist, and his granddaughter, Myra Leslie. John is survived by his wife, Thelma Brelet Roane; by his brother, Kirk Moren Roane (Elaine); his four daughters, Michelle Rist (Michael), Stephanie Berthelot (Donnie), Abby Virgil (Floyd), Teresa Leslie (Joseph) and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A funeral mass will be held in John's honor at 11 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am with a recitation of the rosary at 10:40 am. Interment in St. Joseph's Abbey will follow the mass at 1:30 pm. Arrangements by Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home.
