COTTRELL Earl Louis Cottrell 8-16-32 - 3-26-14 Age 81 Born in Kokomo, Indiana to Paul and Irene Cottrell. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 yrs Emma Chauvin Cottrell and daughter Tanna Ripple. Survived by children David (Eloise) Cottrell, Vicki (Norman) Miller, Cindy (Marty) Dean and Jerry (Sarah) Cottrell. Grandfather of Captain Andrew (Sarah) Miller, Joel (Ashley) Shoultz, Jill Miller, Jonathan Schoen, Lori Ripple, Kelly Ripple, Colin Cottrell, Arthur and John Rhodes Cottrell and Anna Bell Hines. Great Grandfather of Lane, Evan and Camille Shoultz and Kathryn Miller. He was a retired Civil Engineer Department Head with Freeport McMoran . He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Purdue University where he started at 16 yrs old and was president of Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity. He was also Former President of the National Society of Civil Engineers and former president of Tchefunta Estates in Covington where he was a longtime resident. He was a generous and loving man who always had a smile for anyone he encountered. A memorial will be held at St Anselm Catholic Church, Madisonville, LA Thursday April 3rd with visitation From 9-11 am and a Mass at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association or the Salvation Army.
