Obituary
Robert Anthony Zeringue, Sr., a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, brother, and cherished friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his boys on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana. He was 86 years old.
Born in St. James, Louisiana on December 6, 1938, to the late Joseph and Marguerite Zeringue, Robert, known as "Pops," "Big Rob," and "Bob" (to a select few), lived a full and vibrant life. He served his country in the United States Navy as a hurricane hunter. During his civilian career, he held multiple positions, from a vacuum salesman to a dedicated maintenance man at several companies, including the American Can Company. He found his final professional calling as a bus driver for the St. Tammany Parish School Board, from which he retired.
Robert's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra Woessner Zeringue; his three sons, Robert Anthony Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, Christopher and his wife, Jill, and Brandon and his wife, Lauren. He was a proud and doting grandfather to Gabriella, Landon, and Izzy Zeringue, who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his daughter Debbie and his siblings: Reginald, Phillip, Madeline, Kitty, and Gwendolyn.
Robert and Sandy had a long happy life together, never being apart for any length of time. Their enjoyment in life was mainly in raising their three sons to become the fine young men they are. In later years they had the opportunity to travel together extensively and spend quality time enjoying and celebrating their lives together.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Robert had a story for every subject and a smirk that could light up any room. He possessed a quirky sense of humor that will be missed by all who knew him. He found immense pleasure in the simple things in life, especially being outdoors. He had a passion for planting trees, fruits, and vegetables and could often be found riding or fixing his tractor. A loyal fan, he spent many seasons cheering passionately for the LSU football and baseball teams.
Robert was a man of unwavering strength, wisdom, and love for his family. His life was a reflection of integrity, hard work, and kindness. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every day.
