Charles "Chuck" George Perrodin, 71, of Springfield, LA, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. While we are broken hearted, we find joy in knowing that Jesus has welcomed him into his loving arms. Chuck was born on March 16, 1952, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, but spent a majority of his life in Ville Platte and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Chuck was a graduate of Ville Platte High School and Louisiana State University where he earned a BA in Mass Communications in 1975. He began working as a journalist at an early age, covering governmental meetings at the age of 12 for the Opelousas Daily World newspaper, had his own by-line at age 14, became a radio announcer at age 16 and was news director of KVPI radio in Ville Platte at 21. Chuck had a fulfilling career as a news reporter and anchorman in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and Houston. A television show he created, produced, and hosted for Cox Communications was named cable TV's best local governmental affairs program in the nation in 2002. In addition, Chuck served as Adjunct Faculty at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communications. Since Hurricane Katrina, Chuck worked in hurricane recovery for the State of Louisiana, including the Disaster Recover Unit and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of which he retired from in 2022. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Leroy Perrodin, Margaret "Peggy" Tweed Perrodin and brother Ricky Perrodin. Chuck is survived by his sister, Peggy-Ann Perrodin Soileau (Nick) of Kentwood, LA; sister-in law, Sandra Boley Perrodin of Springdale, AR; nieces Dawn Soileau Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO, Nicole Soileau of Folsom, LA; nephews, Bart Soileau (Ericka) of Abita Springs LA; Jonathon Perrodin (Amber) of Springdale, AR; great nieces & nephews Ava, Lucia, Joseph & Gabriel Soileau; Ezmah & Raine Perrodin. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street in Baton Rouge on Friday, April 28 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. A rosary will take place at 11:00 a.m. and a memorial service will begin at 12:00 pm. Chuck had a passion for coastal restoration and protection.
