Obituary

Mary Sue Cairns Lanaux, age 84, of Abita Springs and formerly of Mandeville, passed away on April 24, 2025.

She was born December 17, 1940 in Alexandria, LA.

Beloved wife & best friend of 63 years to, Michel Emile Lanaux, Sr. Her parents were Dr. Adrian Bennett Sr. & Mary Adeline Cairns. Mother of Susan Elizabeth Snyder of Des Moines, Iowa, Michel Emile Lanaux Jr of Abita Springs, LA, and Thomas Baldwin Lanaux of Austin, Texas. She was the sister of the late Dr. Adrian Bennett Cairns, Jr, Thomas E. Cairns and the late Robert F. Cairns.

She was Grandmother of 8- Elizabeth Fretz, Christopher Snyder & Finn Snyder (Charles & Susan E. Snyder), Michael and Nathanael Lanaux (Michel E. Jr. & Brenda Lanaux) and Madelynn, Adrian, and Aiden Lanaux (Thomas B. & Monica Lanaux). She was Great Grandmother of 3- Jack Fretz, Dean Fretz and June Snyder.

Mary Sue was a graduate of St Martin’s Episcopal School and attended Ole Miss University. While there she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She loved gardening, Bridge, biking, playing Scrabble and good movies.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433 on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be private.
