Barbara Clann Minnis passed from this world into the Lord's hands on February 22, 2022 in Covington, Louisiana at the age of 89. Barbara was born in New Orleans and grew up in both New Orleans and Covington. She is a graduate of St. Scholastica Academy in Covington and attended Louisiana State University and Sophie Newcomb College where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She later earned a bachelor's degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. Barbara lived 19 years in Mobile, Alabama, after which she resided in Covington for 47 years where she was an elementary school teacher until her retirement in 1996. Barbara is the daughter of the late James Maltby Clann and Mary Pfister Kammer Clann. She is survived by her three children, Aristide Robert Minnis III and Mimi Minnis Montgomery (Levere III) and James Clann Minnis (Anne-Marie); her grandchildren Levere Montgomery IV, Austin Montgomery, and Claire Montgomery; her sisters Susan Clann Stoutz, Catherine Clann Kehoe McIver, and Elizabeth Clann Bolles, and her brothers Michael Kammer Clann and Thomas George Clann. She was preceded in death by her brother James Maltby Clann, Jr. and her sister Mimi Mary Clann Calhoun. Barbara was passionate about teaching reading to elementary school children, and she especially enjoyed gatherings of her large extended family and happy times spent with friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Covington, Louisiana preceded by visitation beginning 10:00 a.m. Burial immediately follows at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.The family wishes to express its gratitude to the loving and dedicated caretakers of The Natural Touch Sitter Service.
