LEAH BOUDREAUX OBITUARY
Leah Valerie Boudreaux passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2021, due to complications from a COVID Delta breakthrough. She is preceded in death by her parents Leah Edith Holbert and Nathan Howard Holbert. She is survived by her loving family: her Wife, Bonnie J. Simerly; children: Edward "Beau" L. Boudreaux, III; Nathan M. Boudreaux (Martha); Alexis "Lexi" V. Kesner (Chase) and her beloved grandchildren: Edward "Eddy" L. Boudreaux, IV, Emily and James Kesner, and Louise and Catherine Boudreaux. She is also survived by her Ex-Husband Edward Lee Boudreaux, Jr. She will be missed by her lifelong friends Marnie Woynowski and Brenda Evans Ware, Nephews: Kent Woynowski (Leslie) and Grant Woynowski (Bradley). Valerie was an exceptionally experienced, respected, resourceful, and beloved registered nurse at University Medical Center Emergency Department, Southeast Louisiana State Hospital Education Department, Charity Hospital Emergency Department, and Camp Nurse "Bandaid" then "Dr. Who" for many summers at Camp Abbey. Valerie will be remembered for her dedication, compassion, positive attitude, and "smiley face business cards." Valerie had an exuberant, effortless, infectious, and joyful laugh. Her heart was huge, generous, and kind. Valerie was always helping those in need and did so with breathtaking humility. She was a lover of all types of music and especially enjoyed the experience of live concerts. Many will recall her rhythm, dance moves, and enthusiastic singing. She loved to travel, to experience life's adventures, and to share great food with amazing friends. For those who feel comfortable, a Funeral Mass will be said Friday, August 27, 2021, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 1802 Tulane Ave. New Orleans, LA. Visitation at 13:00 (1:00 PM) followed by Mass at 14:00 (2:00 PM). Masks are required and we will be practicing social distancing. Mass will also be live streamed via YouTube. If you wish to view the mass in lieu of attending, please contact an immediate family member for information. In lieu of flowers, Valerie and her loved ones ask that she be remembered through donations to Camp Abbey Retreat Center which distributes summer camp scholarships for families experiencing hardship.
