Rosario "Roy" Giangrosso, a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away on December 25, 2021. He was born in New Orleans, LA on December 12, 1940, to Louis and Marie Acardo Giangrosso. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Renee Carolyn Trahan Giangrosso; sons, Patrick Louis Giangrosso (Andrea) and Gregory Trahan Giangrosso (Melissa); sisters Frances Balluf of Chicago, IL, and Kathryn Giangrosso of Metairie, LA; and granddaughters, Ainsley Claire Giangrosso, Madison Delaney Giangrosso, and Lily Renee Giangrosso. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School, having obtained his BS in Electrical Engineering from USL and a Masters in Civil Engineering from Tulane University. Roy was the most gentle and giving man who didn't turn down anyone who asked for help. Known as "The Spirit of Mardi Gras," he and Renee rarely missed a Mardi Gras in the French Quarter during their years of marriage. Roy and Renee were parishioners of Mary Queen of Peace and he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Mary Queen of Peace Council 12072. We will celebrate Roy's life and entrance into Heaven at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a mass at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will follow mass at Roy's resting place at St. Joseph's Abbey Cemetery, 75376 River Road, Saint Benedict, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for those who can to donate blood at your local blood bank or to provide a donation to Jesuit High School New Orleans, scholarship fund in the name of Rosario "Roy" Giangrosso.
