Obituary of William L Yauger Jr.
William L. Yauger, Jr. (Bill), age 84, resident of Slidell, died peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Etchie. He also leaves five children, daughter Fran (Jeff) of Freeport IL, son John of Arlington WA, son Vince (Becky) of Plano TX, son Bruce (Julie) of Gordonsville VA, and daughter, Kristy (Al) of Birmingham AL. Mr. Yauger had eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters and many nieces and nephews. From a young age, Mr. Yauger developed a passion for boats and sailing, and continued that love his entire life. He was a previous member of the Kaneohe Yacht Club on the island of Oahu, and more recently, the Tammany Yacht Club here in Slidell. He also enjoyed traveling, and had a lifelong interest in learning new things. Mr. Yauger was blessed to have formed strong friendships throughout his travels, and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Thank you to the staff and nurses at Notre Dame Hospice for the excellent love and care of Mr. Yauger. A visitation and memorial mass will be held on Friday, June 11 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd., Slidell.
