Obituary for John Whitney Dussouy Jr.
John Whitney Dussouy, Jr., passed away at home on Monday, June 27, 2022, in Lacombe, Louisiana. John is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 53 years, Georgieholl “Georgie” Muller Dussouy; his beloved sons, John Whitney Dussouy, III (Angie) and Michael Robert Dussouy (Jane); and his four grandchildren, Addisyn Renee Dussouy, Patrick Griffin Dussouy, Katherine Elise Dussouy, and Rachel Rose Dussouy, who were the greatest joys of his life. John is also survived by his sister, Sandra Schilleci (John), and brothers, Alan (Leslie), Guy (Mary), Gary (Shelly), and Roy (Yvette) Dussouy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a large circle of relatives and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.

John was born on January 14, 1945, in New Orleans, LA to the late John Whitney Dussouy, Sr. and the late Rosemary Meral Dussouy. John graduated De La Salle High School in 1963 and went on to attend Pearl River Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with a BA degree in Business. John was principal owner of the John W. Dussouy and Co. Inc. Insurance Agency, proudly serving various Commercial Line Businesses, Personal Lines and Governmental Entities in St. Tammany Parish for 33 years until his retirement in 2017. He also had a Designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).

A native of New Orleans, John was a member of the Krewe of Bacchus for several years. He was a lifelong faithful fan of the New Orleans Saints. John enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He raised chickens, peacocks, and pheasants and enjoyed admiring the wild birds who frequented his property and well-stocked feeders. John also had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden on his #10 acres of property. He enjoyed photographing nature and several of his photos were turned into award-winning paintings by his wife Georgie, a gifted artist.

John was very active in his church and community. He was a lifelong and devout Catholic, and a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lacombe for many years where he served as a Lector, a dedicated Adorer and a member of the Knights of Columbus. John was an advocate of St. Tammany Parish and was a volunteer with the Head Start program, where he enjoyed reading stories to children.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Services at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church located 28088 Main St., Lacombe, La. 70445 on Friday, July 8, 2022. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. The Mass will begin at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
