MORRIS COOPER OBITUARY
"I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance." 2 Tim 4:7-8. Morris Wade Cooper, Sr. passed away peacefully on November 23, 2021, at the age of 94. Loving husband of Mary Roussel Cooper. Devoted father of Carlie Wade (Lana), Jeannine (Greg), Edward (Stephanie), Wade (Cathy), and Angelle (Bennett). Adoring "Gramps" of grandchildren Sheri, Sharon, Shawn, Claire (Matt), Jeanne (David), Elise (fiancé Jon), Ben, Caroline, (fiancé Vincent), Eli, Mary Claire, Bennett Charles, Wade Joseph, and Gabe. Blessed great-grandfather of Carlie Wade, Madeline, Mason, Marie, Elizabeth, and Hudson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfreda and Carlie Cooper; sisters, Eloise and Phyllis; brother, Martin; and grandson, Cooper Joseph. He was a native of Roatan Honduras, and a resident of LaPlace for the past 53 years. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged from active duty. Wade was a devoted Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Member, a faithful blood donor, and avid SCC Comet Fan. He was a founding member of the SCC Quarterback Club. He never missed his weekly purchase of a lottery ticket and after every meal could be heard asking, "What's for dessert?" always enjoying a dessert or sweet treat every day! He had a tremendous work ethic and worked for Lykes Brothers Steamship Company as a member of the shore gang for 27 years and in his retirement worked for Winn Dixie to stay busy. Wade has left a legacy of faith in God, love for his family, belief in education, and commitment to hard work for all who knew him to follow. The family would like to thank devoted neighbors, Mary Catherine and Jimmy Daigre and Mandy and Buck Russell, for their support and assistance at any time day or night for our parents. We sincerely appreciate Kush's love and care for Wade for the past eight years. We are grateful to St. Catherine's Hospice for their Christ like support, care, and guidance as we journeyed with Dad to his eternal resting place.
