Obituary

Ward Edward Blakeman Jr., of Lacombe, Louisiana: On April 18, 2022 Ward died from complications from cancer and kidney failure. He was 70 years old. Ward leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Robin Bollens Blakeman. Father of Corrine Blakeman Aertker (Stephen Conrad Aertker) and Christine Blakeman. Grandfather of Caroline, Claire and Conrad Aertker, Abigail Tucker and Kylie Courtney. Brother of Debra Blakeman King (Jack), Donna Blakeman Hentze Reeves and the late Michael Blakeman.

Ward was born in New Orleans to Elizabeth Perez and Ward Blakeman Sr. He grew up in a loving home, and enjoyed playing baseball and football in his youth. Ward graduated from Abramson High in New Orleans, and attended the University of New Orleans.

Ward was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves; serving for 10 years. Besides an intense desire to build a good life together with his beloved wife, Robin, Ward credits his military service as a foundation for any success in his life. He rose through the ranks; from Private, to Sergeant, to receiving a Commission as an Officer. Ward held a firm belief that service to this Nation in our military builds character.

Ward enjoyed a 40 year career in the grocery business, as a vendor/supplier. Good relationships with co-workers and his retail customers were at the very core of all successes that came his way. Ward retired in 2012 from Mondel?z International (formally Kraft Foods), holding various roles that were challenging and rewarding. Ward was a contributing member of the Patriot Guard Riders, the Harley Owners Group, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.

God’s Blessings were abundant throughout Ward’s life. Above all else, he was thankful for the love of his beautiful, sweet love, Robin. He met her when she was 16. Every day of their lives, she inspired him to be a better person. He could not have loved her more. As the words of the late Glenn Frey’s song, “True Love” state: “Well, it's a true love right from the start, It's a true love coming' straight from my heart, True love, need you here beside me baby, True love, need your love to guide me”. Young love, “True Love” was a love for a lifetime of happiness.
