ames Kenneth Campbell, musician, arranger and composer died Monday, October 28th, 2002, of cancer. He was 75. Jim Campbell was born in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1927. Served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army and earned a Bachelor of Music from Colorado State University, 1952 and a Master of Arts from the University of Wyoming, 1958. During his career, Mr. Campbell was the manager of the Rivergate Convention and Exhibition Center, the New Orleans Auditorium and Theatre of Performing Arts, the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, VA and the Pan- American Center and Corbett Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was a member of the Musicians Local 174-496 AFM and served on the board of directors for the Louisiana- New Orleans Host Committee, was past member of the Hotel Sales Management Association and the French Quarter Festival Committee. He was known for the ""Gentle Jazz Trio'' and the ""Vieux Carre' Strings.'' He composed and conducted original composi- tions for the Krewe of Mystic. He conducted the Rex and Apollo Balls and enjoyed working with Ronnie Kole, Carl Mack and the other fine local musicians. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dolores Taylor Campbell; two sons, Jason Campbell of New Orleans, Bruce Campbell and his wife Sylvie of Madisonville, LA; one daughter, Joanna Campbell Dillard and her husband Michael from Newport News, VA; and four grandchildren, Megan Dillard, Jeremiah, Kari and Shanon Mathis. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 4th, 2002, at 10:00 A.M. at Grace Episcopal Church, 3700 Canal St., the Rev. David Sutcliffe officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Grace Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home.
