Obituary

ichard Daniel Acton passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021, in Tickfaw, Louisiana, at the age of 73. He was born on Wednesday, December 31, 1947 in Louisville, Missouri to the late Anna Lou Cook and the late Joel Richard Acton. He was a resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana.

Richard was a retired horseman and a Navy veteran, as well as a historian of the Civil War. He was a simple man who loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his step-children, Vivian McDonald, Curtis Brown (Debbie), Russel Brown (Julie), Mike Brown (Beth), Elizabeth Brown Bryant (Matthew), and Bobby Brown (Dawn); 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Richard and Anna Cook Acton; his wife Barbara Brown-Acton; and his grandchildren, Kevin Brown and Chris Brown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Tuesday, May 25, 2021beginning at 9:00 AM until the memorial service begins at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey in Covington, Louisiana.
