Obituary

Gloria Fischer Simon passed away peacefully in Covington, LA on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. A native of New Orleans, longtime resident of St. Bernard and resident of Covington since Katrina. Loving mother of Ray Allen Simon II and his wife Danette. Devoted grandmother of Ryan, Destiny, Donovan and Derek, great grandmother of 6, and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Georgia Fischer; her daughter, Danell Simon; her brother, Leopold Fischer; and her sister, Rose Estopinal. Gloria was devoted to God, her family and her friends. She loved playing cards, watching movies, was an avid Garage Sale hunter, enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, and reading a good book. Gloria worked for many years and retired from cafeteria work at Archbishop Hannan High School in Meraux, LA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass to be held at St. Jane Catholic Church, 70240 Maple St., Abita Springs, LA on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Gathering time beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment immediately following at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
