“Uncle Jim” as known to family and friends alike, was born in Franklin, Louisiana on July 14, 1926 to Guy Porche and Zelia Pintado Porche. He experienced the challenges of growing up during the Great Depression along with his now deceased siblings, Zelia Porche, Floramae Kraemer, Roselyn Roy, Edith Porche, Guy, Robert, Schuyler and Stanley Porche and Marie Ragan. He met the love of his life, Constance Rita DeNux and enjoyed almost 68 years of marriage until her passing in January, 2020. He lived the majority of his life in Gonzales and Baton Rouge, enjoying the last 9 golden years of his life in Covington and Bush, Louisiana with family.

Uncle Jim is survived by his numerous nieces and nephews, including Nancy Ishmael and her husband, David Ishmael, Guy L. Kraemer and his wife Teri, Helen Voorhies, Rene Porche, and a multitude of great nieces and great nephews.

Uncle Jim served in the Military Police of the Armed Services, and earned a Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He also served as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic. He was proud to have spent time stationed at the Panama Canal. Upon honorable discharge, he attended SLI (Univ ersity of Louisiana in Lafayette) and studied drafting. He worked for Ormet Chemical Company for the majority of his life, until retirement, and then served as an inspector for East Baton Rouge Parish. He was an accomplished pilot, loved motorcycles and corvettes, dancing the jitterbug with Aunt Connie, teasing, making everyone laugh, often laughing the hardest. He was “the wise old owl”, always ready to offer words of advice. He was everyone’s greatest fan club and only saw the goodness in those he met. Uncle Jim and Aunt Connie were greatly loved by all who knew them, and he affectionately embraced her Lafayette and Bunkie and Marksville families as his own. Uncle Jim was full of love, gratitude, patience and joy.
