Obituary for Mary "Janet" O'Keefe
Mary “Janet” Sylvest O’Keefe, age 87 of Covington, Louisiana passed away on Thursday morning, May 27, 2021. She was born on May 3, 1934 in Columbia, Mississippi to Frank Sylvest and Burtis Crout Sylvest.

Janet is survived by her loving children Joseph O'Keefe, Bethany Wooley (Ronnie), Rhonda Spinks (Chris), Patrice Clark (David), Cynthia Chambers (Ed), and 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 15 Great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Genevieve Abney, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Darrell J. O’Keefe, her son Sammie O’Keefe, her adoring parents Frank and Burtis Sylvest, her sisters Theresa Miners, Lottie Chinn, Frankie Blackwell, and her granddaughter Bridget Holcombe.

A native of Columbia, Mississippi and a lifelong resident of Covington, Louisiana, Janet was a devoted parishioner to St. Peter Catholic Church. Janet retired after 35 years from Bellsouth/AT&T as a dispatcher. She truly enjoyed her work and she was well liked and respected by all.

Janet enjoyed retirement life, especially spending time with her family and friends. She was an extremely kind, caring, and loving person who will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to the evening visitation that will take place in E.J. Fielding’s parlor room on Wednesday June 2, 2021 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will take place at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday June 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana 70457.
