Obituary

William "Bill" Joseph Lomasney, age 80, of Mandeville, LA passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. He was born on April 30, 1941, in Nashville, TN to Henry Martin Lomasney and Elizabeth Ann Smith Lomasney. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jacqueline (Terranova) Lomasney; his children Brandon Joseph Lomasney (Kaye), Mary Elizabeth Lomasney Dugas (Paul), Stephanie Lynne Lomasney Levert (Martin); and nine grandchildren Allison, Will, and Brynne Lomasney; Beau, Bailey, and Emma Dugas; and Elise, Julia, and Andrew Levert. He is also survived by six brothers and sisters Johnny Lomasney, Henry Louis Lomasney, Grace Bauer, Michael Lomasney, Betty Borne, Mary Jo Lorio and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents. Bill was a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Imperial Coatings. His many contributions to the protective Coatings industry resulted in advances in hardwood floors, offshore oil, nuclear and steel bridges. Bill brought Imperial to the fore front of all of these industries. Bill was well known and highly respected amongst his peers. His technical career brought him to many places all over the globe. Some of Bill's favorite hobbies included eating ice cream, golfing, gardening, traveling, and playing bingo and blackjack. However, all paled in comparison to spending time with his nine grandkids, to whom he affectionately referred as the "Nifty Nine". Bill was very proud of his heritage, most notably his grandfather's establishment of the family's travelling circus in the early 1900s, known as Smith Greater Shows. He loved sharing stories of his family's experience taming lions and traveling with the Shows. Bill also loved to share stories about his father's involvement with the Manhattan Project. Bill was always the life of the party, with a smile that could light up a room. To know him was to love him. He was a devout Catholic, a true disciple of Christ who loved the Blessed Mother and praying the rosary. Bill will always be remembered for his contagious laughter, his Christian spirit and his generous heart. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 1:00 PM with visitation at the church beginning at 11:00 AM.
