Obituary

David Raymond Sweitzer passed away Friday, March 3rd, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on December 24, 1980 in Covington, LA. He is survived by the love of his life, Lindsay Richardson Sweitzer and his beloved son, Jackson Read Sweitzer. He is also survived by his parents, Paul Raymond Sweitzer and Mariea Burkart Sweitzer, his siblings, Theresa Marie Sweitzer and Jonathan Paul Sweitzer and his nieces and nephew, Natalie Ann Marie Sweitzer, Lila Elizabeth Cooper and Grady Shea Cooper. He was also deeply loved by the family he married into, Read, Pat, Christine and Megan Richardson.
David was a wonderful and devoted father, husband, and friend. His favorite pastime was cooking for the ones he loved, and those that knew David knew that he cooked enough to feed an army. David also enjoyed boating with his dear friend John Ross, as well as barbecuing and spending time at the pool in Favrotville. He looked forward to attending Mardi Gras balls each carnival season, going to French Quarter Fest each spring, as well as the annual Richardson beach trip to Destin. However, what brought David most joy was spending time with his son Jackson, whether he was taking him to Cub Scouts, coaching his baseball games or just spending time at home playing games and watching Star Wars.
While David left us far too soon, the impact he had on all who knew him will be felt for years to come. His spirit will live on through all of the lives he touched. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to all of the family and friends who visited him during his time in the hospital, as well as the care provided by Hospice of St.Tammany Parish Hospital.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation at St. Peter’s Church, 125 E. 19th Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. The Sweitzer family invites you to share thoughts, fondest memories, and condolences online via the E. J. Fielding Funeral Home Guest Book at www.ejfieldingfh.com. Donations can be made to the Covington Cub Scouts memorial fund that was set up on David’s behalf to assist cub scouts in need, Venmo- @cubscout-pack-160.
