Carol L. Speyerer, age 78, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024. She was born on May 15, 1946 in Glen Burnie, Maryland to her parents Leonore (Sourbier) and Raymond Lipin.
Carol was educated at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, graduating with a Bachelor of Science. During this time, she met lifelong friends Patsy Camp, Mary Brown, Susan Bauer, and Mary Jo Quinn. Upon moving to Dallas, this circle was expanded to include Rita Patton and Ann Jones. They had many adventures together across several continents and continued to meet regularly for more escapades until her passing.

Carol continued her education at Texas Woman's University, receiving a Master of Science, and proceeded to earn a Doctorate of Education from Nova University in 1988 while having a rambunctious 3-year-old at home. She went on to become a Faculty member at Dallas County College, including the position of Associate Dean of Nursing at the El Centro campus. She also traveled the United States while serving on the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and proctoring clinical exams for Excelsior College. Carol’s passion for caretaking will live on through the many lives she and her students have touched.

Carol lived her final years at Sunrise Senior Living in Plano, TX where she had a wonderful “second life.” She could always be found participating in the community's daily activities, particularly painting, Bingo, UNO, and Mexican Train. The entire Speyerer family made many meaningful relationships with residents and staff at Sunrise and will be forever grateful for the happiness they provided Carol in the final years of her life.

Carol was also a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending services, participating in bible studies, and enjoying the fish fry’s during lent at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Carol was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 44 years, Francis (Frank) Speyerer. She is survived by her cherished son Emerson, daughter-in-law Sara, and beloved grand-dog Orbit with whom she held a special connection.

Additionally, Carol is survived by her sister Rita and brothers and sisters-in-laws Raymond (Donna), John (Denise), Thomas (Jeanne), and Edward (Donna).

A celebration of life memorial service for Carol will be held Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033. Her family suggests colorful attire to honor Carol’s bright spirit and preference for color.
