Obituary

Ralph L. Serpas Jr. passed away on March 8, 2023 in his home at the age of 83. Ralph was born in New Orleans, LA on 10/27/1939 to the late Ralph and Mary Serpas. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Aixa, children Stephanie Serpas Fried (Patrick) and Ralph Louis Serpas III (Rebecca) and grandchildren Ian, Olivia, Eve, Bret and Jude. He was the brother of Bob Serpas (Lucille), Lewis Serpas (Terri) and the late Mary S. Walsh, Iris S. Spear and Merrill S. Ferguson. A proud resident of Lacombe for over 40 years, Ralph graduated from Cor Jesu High School in New Orleans, and briefly attended Loyola College. He began his professional career as a Allstate adjuster and transitioned to a well loved and respected insurance agent in Slidell for over 40 years. Anyone who needed an insurance quote or beer would often stop by his office for a "consultation." Anyone who knew Ralph will remember him as always smiling laughing and telling jokes. He never met a stranger. Ralph was an avid woodworker creating various pieces for the church, gardens and gifts. He could make anything! He was one of the original parishioners to St. John of the Cross Church and sang in the church choir for years. In his free time he played tennis in the Slidell community and enjoyed painting and fishing. Most of all he was a very caring person to all. He was happiest surrounded by friends and family. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Lacombe Fire Department. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, March 15 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 9 am until service time. Interment will take place following the service at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA.
