Obituary for Dennis Edward Calkins
With dignity, courage, and unwavering faith Dennis Edward Calkins died at home surrounded by his family on April 4, 2021 following a long illness.

Dennis was a wonderful husband and father, and treasured friend to many. He possessed a quick wit and was fast with a clever comeback. Dennis was a faithful servant of God and his Savior, Jesus Christ; he and his family were long-time parishioners at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. His love for wife Mary and his son Chris was boundless. He also had special love and caring for his niece Lauren, and nephew Patrick.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Mary (Voelker) Calkins and his son Chris Calkins. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Calkins Berault (Warren), his brother Fr. Ronald L. Calkins, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Dennis is preceded in death by his brother Deacon Richard W. Calkins (June), his sister Cheryl Calkins, and his parents Joseph Gay Calkins, III and Dolores (Becker) Calkins.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice for their tender care and compassion given to Dennis throughout his illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM with visitation at the church on Friday beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, Saint Benedict, LA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dennis may be made to Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Donations may be either mailed to 1501 W Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 or can be made at ¬ https://www.maryqueenofpeace.org/.
