Obituary

Charles Fos Jr. passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023, with his family at his side. He was 72.
Charlie was born on August 14, 1950 in New Orleans and moved to Chalmette as a young boy. The quintessential Holy Cross Man (‘68), he lived by faith, honesty, strength of character and leadership in pursuit of the true, the good and the beautiful.

Charlie earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from LSU in 1972. He bled purple and gold and looked forward to watching his Tigers win on Saturday nights.

A dedicated provider for his family, he had a long, successful career at Randa Corp (Wembley) where he worked for 42 years, calling on his operational expertise—and sewing skills, to drive efficiencies both at work and at home.

He was a loyal friend, father, and husband. His love for his wife Nancy (Evans) was unwavering. They enjoyed a 48 year marriage and together had three daughters, Melissa, Michelle and Kimberly.

An avid outdoorsman, Charlie relished his time training his labrador retrievers and beagles, duck and rabbit hunting, fishing on his boat, and growing bountiful veggie and herb gardens.

Never content with the status quo, Charlie was an inventor who loved to tinker in his garage, proudly designing and building better duck decoys.

He was always there for his girls. Following Hurricane Katrina, Charlie and Nancy migrated to the Northshore, and he spent his retired years playing with his eight grandchildren (Eliza & Libby Kate Daigle, Sabastian, Emily and Madeline Sanborn, and Helen, James and Julia Theard).

If family came first, his love for food came second, and he often reminded those he dined with, “Here in New Orleans, we live to eat.” After eating seafood of any kind, with predictability, he would exclaim, “that’s why we live here!”

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Fos, Sr. and Catherine Six Fos, and his oldest daughter, Melissa Daigle (Burt).

He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters Michelle Theard (Brad) and Kimberly Sanborn (Russell), sister Susan Englert (Joey), brother Michael Fos (Renee), along with his nieces and nephew, and his eight amazing grandchildren (Eliza, Libby Kate, Sabastian, Emily, Madeline, Helen, James and Julia) for whom his world stood still.

We will miss Charlie’s quiet sense of humor, his deep sense of faith, abundant Boudreaux & Thibodaux jokes, and mostly his love for all of us.
