Obituary

Verna “Mimi” Margaret Martin passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023. Mimi was one of a kind. She was self-sufficient, hard-working, multitalented, very generous, and honest. Mimi never left the house without her signature red lipstick, she was beautiful! Mimi was even voted the prettiest girl in high school. She raised 5 independent daughters as a single mother. Mimi loved fashion and she had exquisite taste, as was displayed in her store, The Little Black Dress Shop. She dressed hundreds of women for their special occasion and usually gave away more than she made, even dressing a few of the Miss Louisiana contestants. Mimi appreciated fine art and beauty and surrounded herself with the same. She received great comfort from her dogs in her later years of life. Mimi had a gift of turning nothing into something, which was always something beautiful.
She is preceded in death by her husband/soulmate, Dr. Wojiech Wojcik; her first husband and father of her daughters, Robert Martin; daughters, Debbie, Dru and Missy; and grandson, David Joerder. She is survived by daughters, Pamela Martin and Robin Martin; grandchildren, Vanessa Martin, Natalie Kern Cline, Elsa Kern, Cody Shinault, Arthur Joerder, Sophia Campo, Crystal Ingold Hurley, Justin Ingold, Zac Martin and Leffler Ramey; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
