Beverly Braud Murphy passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Friday, May 5, 2023 in Covington, LA.

Beloved wife of the late Alfred Murphy for 55 years. Loving and devoted mother of Mary Strassel (L.J.), Michael Murphy (Penny), Erin Deen, Nancy Bernard (Scott), Timothy Murphy and Laurie Murphy (Glenn). Loving Mere of Rachel Strassel, Ryan (Grace) and Sean Murphy (Allie), Alexandra and Griffin Deen III, Bonnie Bernard, Raymond and Robyn Murphy and Matthew Adaire (Zoe). Mother-in-law of Dr. Griffin Deen. Great-grandmother of Tallulah Murphy. Sister of the late Jeanne Braud Foret and brother-in-law of Felix Foret. Sister-in-law of Kenneth Murphy (Marianne) and aunt to Andrea Murphy. Loving godmother of Mary Lisa Rivers and Carol Graham Beck. She is also survived by many other beloved family members.

Born in New Orleans in 1933, Beverly was the daughter of the late Raymond and Wilda Braud. She graduated from Louisiana State University and was a proud alumna who rooted for the Tigers for the rest of her life. She was a passionate and dedicated school teacher for 27 years. Her career started at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans. After getting married and having her six children, she returned to teaching. When St. Benilde School opened in Metairie in 1968, Beverly was the first kindergarten teacher. She then moved to Stuart Prep in Metairie where she taught for 14 years. Beverly was an exemplary educator who loved helping young learners grow and thrive. Her impact on the students she taught extended far beyond the classroom.

Beverly loved to travel with her husband, family and friends. She enjoyed reading, painting, crossword puzzles, and during football season, she watched as many games as she could.

The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care during the last days of her life.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a celebration of her life at the E J Fielding Funeral Home with the visitation from 12:00 pm to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 and the procession will leave the funeral home at 1:30 pm going to Saint Joseph Abbey for the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM.
