Obituary

Carvin “C J” Ladner, born on November 22, 1947, passed away peacefully May 31, 2023, in Gulfport, MS. He was 75. Born in Gulfport, MS, he lived in Slidell since 1978.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Foley Ladner, his parents, Carvis and Loretta Ladner, and his brothers, Jesse “Jake” Ladner and Billy J. Ladner.
He is survived by his children, Michele L. Mills (Brent), and Brian J. Ladner (Christine); his sister, Dale Ladner; his grandchildren, Hayden and Brady Mills, Katie, Josh, Andrew and Matthew Ladner; his sisters-in-law, Cathy Ladner and Beverly “Bit” Ladner, and several nieces and nephews.
CJ attended the St. Joseph Seminary from grades nine through twelve, and the St. Joseph Seminary College through his first year. He finished college at USM with a major in accounting and a minor in business administration. A former IRS agent, and accountant for the Department of Agriculture, he ended his career as an administrator in the National Finance Center. He had a lifelong love of learning and continued taking courses long after retirement.
CJ enjoyed volunteering his time, working with Project Graduation and with Habitat for Humanity for many years. He also served on the Physical Plant and Facilities Committee and the Alumni Association, and worked on the Alumni Phonathon, all for St. Joseph Abbey and Seminary College.
CJ treasured spending time with his family and friends, especially the time he spent with Pete Fountain’s Half-Fast Walking Club.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Abbey, St. Benedict, LA. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery with a reception immediately after.
