Obituary

arie Mustacchia Lamy, of Covington, LA, was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2021, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving and comforting family. She is no longer here with us, but reunited with Gerry, enjoying a magnificent sanctuary, complete with the glorious praise of angels, and closeness with her Heavenly Father. Born in New Orleans, LA on August 23, 1930, to Joseph Mustacchia and Bertha Gould Mustacchia, she graduated high school at St. Mary of the Pines, a boarding school in Chatawa, MS. She has since been a lifelong resident of Covington, a devoted member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the secretary for St. Paul and St. Peter Catholic Schools and St. Scholastica Academy. She was married to Gerard Lamy for 61 years before he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joseph Mustacchia, her sister Madeline Franz, her grandson Salvador Anthony Rabito, and her sons-in-law Blake Kymen and Jim McDevitt. Marie was a loving, kind and nurturing mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing tennis, woodworking, the "slots", and playing cards with her friends, "The Cinderella Club," and any family member who would sit down with her. Her real passion was to care for her grandchildren. She was beyond generous and sacrificed much for her family. Marie's legacy will be carried on by her loving family of six children, fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren: Daughter Patricia "Patty" Lamy Kymen, her daughters Blakely (Nick Fadely) and their daughter Savanah, Kristin (Jeff Quirion), and Michelle (Johnny Adams) and their daughter Brittane (Adam Perrett) and son Devlin; daughter Therese Lamy Pansano; son Bobby Lamy (Amy) and his daughters Meredith, Allison, and her daughter Marley, and Caroline; daughter Catherine "Kitty" Lamy Nagem (Dr. Edmund Nagem) and her children Dr. Ross Avant (Britton) and their children Anna Rose, Cecilia Marie and Robbie, and Catherine Marie Avant and her daughter Etta Marie Avant-Alexander; daughter Tami Lamy and her children Caitlin, and her son River, Brendan, and Bailey; and daughter Mary Elizabeth "Mary Beth" Lamy Ferguson (John) and her children Elizabeth (Alex), Sarah (Nick Lilley) and Rogers. We will celebrate Marie's life with a visitation and Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's School Chapel in Covington on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM with Mass beginning at 2:00 PM, officiated by Father Peter Hammett of St. Joseph Abbey. A burial service will follow at St. Joseph Abbey cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Abbey and Seminary College, 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA 70457. The family would like to express their appreciation for the support of Hospice of St. Tammany Hospital. The family invites you to share thoughts, fondest memories, and condolences online at E. J.
