Othelia Marie Menard Schoen, born May 28, 1924 in New Orleans, died April 1, 2021 in Covington, Louisiana surrounded by loved ones. She was 96 years old. Predeceased by husband, Jacob "Jay" Reinnes Schoen, Jr.; parents Edgar Joseph Menard, Sr. and Mabel Theard Menard; siblings Edgar Joseph Menard, Jr., Harold Francis Menard, and Miriam Menard Ory. Mother of Jacob "Renny" Reinnes Schoen, III (Jacqueline Melancon), Paul Menard Schoen (Darnell Shuart), Mary Schoen Townsend (William J.) David Edgar Schoen, John Harold Schoen (Angie Comas) and Christopher Joseph Schoen, Sr. Mimi will be dearly missed by 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a plethora of beloved former in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends of all ages. Othelia was a lifelong Catholic, active in St. Raphael Parish in New Orleans, as well as St. Peter Parish in Covington. She was an Archdiocesan board member and gave pre-Cana conferences with husband Jay. She was a coordinator for the Prayer Line, a Eucharistic Minister, and chaired the Bereavement Ministry. At St. Paul's High School in Covington, she tamed the Wolves with etiquette classes. Active in St. Peter, St. Paul, and St. Scholastica PTAs. She was a founding member of St. Tammany West Habitat for Humanity, the Bereavement Network, the Bridge in Covington, and the St. Peter's Charismatic Prayer Group. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church at 125 E. 19th Street in Covington, Louisiana on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 12:00 noon. Visitation at the church is from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. followed by Words of Remembrance prior to Mass. Interment will be at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. A celebration of Mimi's life will follow interment at the Covington Firehouse Event Center, 432 N. Theard Street, Covington.
