Obituary
Peter Nastasi, Jr., 85, died on August 20, 2020, surrounded by his family at his home in Mandeville, LA. He was the adoring husband of Adeline Lucy Kelly for 64 years, the proud father of four children, Peter, Rebecca, Andrew and Rhonda, and their spouses, Kathy Moncrief Nastasi, the late Kevin Cole, Karen LeMaster Nastasi, and Denis Bechac. He was the loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, the late Peter William Nastasi, Kevin Cole and spouse Skye Williams Cole, Cheryl Cole, Kathryn Nastasi, Gianna Nastasi, Madeleine Bechac and Sophia Nastasi.

Peter was born on May 13, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to the late Peter Nastasi, Sr. of Sicily, and Mary Russo Nastasi, of Morgan City, LA. He was one of eight children and has two surviving sisters he loved dearly, Angela Lasher, who is married to husband Hudson Lasher, and Judy Simoneaux.

Peter attended Mater Dolorosa and Holy Name of Jesus in New Orleans and Saint Paul’s College in Covington, LA for his elementary school education. He attended De La Salle High School in New Orleans where he was the school’s first-ever graduating class. After graduating high school, Peter attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge before joining the Army. While in the service, Peter married the love of his life, Adeline Kelly, on August 6, 1956. After being honorably discharged from his service at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C., he and Adeline returned to New Orleans to raise their children.

Throughout his life Peter owned several businesses, with his first being Nastasi’s Distributing Co. in New Orleans. He founded his last business, Marshal Pest Control, in 1982 and thoroughly enjoyed serving his customers until his retirement in 2015.

Peter was a kind, strong, dedicated, and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was deeply devoted to the lives of his family, all of whom live nearby in the Mandeville and Covington areas. He was also a man of strong faith, having been a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville for 42 years with his wife, Adeline. His gentle and loving presence will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him throughout his wonderful life.

The family of Peter wishes to express their sincere gratitude to St. Tammany Health System Hospice, who provided loving care to Peter and kindness to his family during their time of need.

Due to the realities of COVID, his services will be for family only at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville. He will be buried at the St. Joseph Abbey cemetery in Covington. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to St. Tammany Health System Hospice in Peter’s name.
