Obituary for Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Rogers
Thomas Jefferson “T.J.” Rogers passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Carol Ann Faust Rogers. Loving father of Michael Jason Rogers and Mark Christopher Rogers (Laura). Son of the late Katie O’Reagan Rogers and Oscar Rogers. Brother of the late Kenneth and Billy Rogers. Grandfather of Mallory, Hannah, Isabella, Caden, and Emery Kate. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Randy, Julie and Rusty Rogers, Jeff and Stacie Rogers and Steffanie Patterson.

T.J. Rogers was a native of Covington who began his career as a Medical Technologist after graduating from Gradwohl School of Laboratory Techniques in St. Louis, Missouri. He ran the medical and x ray labs for Dr. Roy Gregory and Dr. Gerald Keller in Mandeville and later worked in the lab at Highland Park Hospital in Covington. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was employed by the St. Tammany Parish School Board in 1985. He was assigned to Mandeville Jr. High School as a Physical Education Teacher and as a football and track coach. He was later appointed to the position of Assistant Principal. In 1995 he was hired as the Principal at Fifth Ward Jr. High School. He retired in 2005 with twenty years of dedicated service to the St. Tammany School System. He resided in Bush for forty years and recently moved with his wife to Silver Creek, Mississippi.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th, Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM with visitation at church on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
