KATHRYN LOWRY OBITUARY
Kathryn Claire Lowry, age 79, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2022. Claire, as she was known by family and friends, was born in Norco, LA on October 26, 1942, as the third of four daughters of the late Alcee Lambert and Florette Bourgeois Lambert. Claire grew up in Norco, where she attended and graduated from St. Charles Borromeo as Salutatorian. After high school, Claire worked as a secretary at Shell until she married Edward S. Lowry, Jr. in 1964. Claire and her husband started their family in Norco but moved to Laplace, LA, where they raised their three children. Claire returned to work as a secretary to Father Benny Piovan at Ascension of Our Lord in Laplace after her children started school. Blessed with the gift of conversation, she also established her own business as a Mary Kay beauty consultant and in her later years became a travel agent. She truly enjoyed helping families plan cruise trips and Disney vacations, almost as much as vacations with her children and grandchildren. Claire crocheted beautifully and made many treasured works for family and friends. She and her husband were huge LSU Tiger fans; tailgating in Baton Rouge and on the road for football and baseball games was a favorite past-time for years. Claire's strong Catholic faith sustained her throughout her life. She lived and shared it from her heart. From her teenage years onward, she attended retreats at St. Joseph Abbey and Rosaryville Retreat Centers to strengthen her faith and for quiet reflection. Claire also twice visited Medjugorje during the apparitions as part of her devotion to the Blessed Mother. With her husband, Claire shared her Catholic faith through their St. Joan of Arc Church parish, preparing teenagers for confirmation and young adults for marriage for almost 15 years. She was a prayer warrior for worthy causes and anyone in need. Claire's pride and joy were her three children, David, Molly and Paul, and her ten beautiful grandchildren, Kaitlyn Beier (Charles), Hannah, Trey, Duncan, Hunter and Aidan Lowry; Mia and Zoe Nobile; and Ethan and Griffin Lowry, to whom she was affectionately known as Mimi. She loved weekends and summer days with them on the porch swing and in the swimming pool, and even more on the Florida beach at her dear brother-in-law's home. In their early retirement, Claire and her husband travelled with cherished friends to locations across the U.S and Europe. They eventually left Laplace after 44 years and retired to St. Anthony's Gardens in Covington, where they lived their remaining years. Claire is survived by her daughter Molly Lowry Nobile (Geno), her son Paul T. Lowry (Shannon Kenney), and her ten grandchildren, who will miss her dearly, as well as her sisters, Mary Triche and Carol Dupepe, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, and many Lambert and Lowry nieces and nephews. Claire was preceded in death, just six months prior, by her loving husband, Ed, of 57 years, by her oldest son David S. Lowry (Tricia Edwards), and by her sister, Janice Lambert Walker. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph Abbey Church, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457, with a Funeral Mass immediately following at 2:00 p.m., then a burial service at Saint Joseph Abbey Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to, can send a donation in honor of Claire to the Benedictine Monks at Saint Joseph Abbey. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home locally owned and operated, (985) 892-9222 has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. The Lowry family invites you to share thoughts, fondest memories, and condolences online at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home Guest Book at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
