Obituary

Robert Leslie Johnson went to his heavenly reward on Thursday, September 29, 2022. Born on December 29, 1944 to Marguerite Curran Johnson and Frank L. Johnson. Bob will be remembered as the original “nice guy,” who’s sense of humor, integrity and character set him apart.

He grew up in Berkley, Michigan where he graduated from Berkley High in 1963. He then attended Eastern Michigan where his love for Geology grew and graduated with a BS in Geology. From there he attended Michigan Technological University where he earned an MS in Geology. His career started as an offshore exploration geologist for Texaco, continued with ODECO and then retired from Murphy Oil. His many interests included; volunteering at the WWII Museum in N.O.La., the Knights of Columbus, Men’s Club, an usher at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Slidell, Project Graduation and Pope John Paul’s school board. He served his country in the U.S. Army while he was stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. His biggest accomplishment though was to raise a loving family of daughters, who adored their dad and he cherished every minute he spent with his grandchildren, who thought their PaPa “hung the moon.”

He is dearly loved and missed by his wife of 55 years on August 5th, Mary Jo Agosta Johnson, daughters Amy Even (Mark), Beth Miles, Megan Bremond (Paul), grandchildren, Sara Even, Nicholas Even, Joshua Mills, Piper Bremond and Sunnie Bremond. He is also missed by his brother Frank Johnson, sister Patricia Hackett, nephew Justin Hackett (Nancy), niece Liberty Ferda (Tucker), brother-in-law Paul Agosta (Kathy), niece Pamela Bradley and many more family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at St. Genevie Catholic Church, 58203 Hwy433, Slidell, LA., on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

He will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Abbey Cemetery, Covington, La.
