Obituary

Dorothy Mary Milianti passed away on September 3, 2023 at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband Ross Milianti and her sister Mattia Bourgue and brothers in law Samuel Bourque and Bill McGowan Sr. She is survived by her sister Josie McGowan and her nieces and nephews: Linda Hebert and her family, Samuel Bourque and his spouse Debbie Bourque and his family, Bill McGowan Jr. and his spouse Cathy Schwartz McGowan, Paulette Doussan and her family' and Jackie DeCastro and her spouse Rickie DeCastro and their family.

During WWII, Dorothy loved to say that she turned 18 while working at the Rheem Ammunition Plant in Kenner, Louisiana. She also worked as an estimator at a local lumber yard. One of her fondest memories was that a customer brought back one piece of wood. Dorothy had estimated so well that he only had this one piece of wood left after construction.

Dorothy married and moved to Chicago with her husband Ross. She made many friends there and went to work with the Chicago police as a crossing guard at a nearby school. She loved the children but not the cold in winter.

When her husband retired, she moved down South again and enjoyed many years with her family in Louisiana.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation and Funeral Mass at Saint Joseph Abbey 75376 River Rd, St. Benedict, Louisiana 70457, on Thursday September 7, 2023. The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and Mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at St. Josephs abbey Cemetery immediately following Mass.
