Gayle was born in New Orleans and grew up in the Irish Channel neighborhood where she was very proud of her Irish roots. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1954. She was a devout Roman Catholic, serving as a Eucharistic minister at St. Anselm Church and working in the gift shop at St. Joseph's Abbey.
She loved to travel with her husband of 50 years, driving and camping throughout the United States and Canada. They honeymooned in Mexico, twice! They also traveled to Europe several times. She loved sewing, cooking, and working in her garden. She especially enjoyed watching the birds splash in her backyard birdbath.

The family especially thanks the kindness and generosity of her wonderful neighbors. We also thank her caregivers, JayeLynn and Theresa, for the last year of devoted and loving service.
