To know Floreida Weldon was to know her kindness to all, her genuine and abiding good nature, and her tremendous faith in God. Floreida lived her Christian values. Throughout her life, she gave of herself to friends, neighbors, and especially family. She had great compassion for all. Floreida was beloved by her husband Bob with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Together they traveled the world visiting nearly every continent. She had great interest in culture, art, music, and history and appreciated all kinds of people. She had great insight into people and saw the best in everyone she met. She enjoyed listening to music, going to concerts and plays, and dabbling in interior decorating. Floreida had a great love of fine food and learned the art of cooking in New York City, receiving a Culinary diploma from Le Cordon Bleu. She put her talents to good use as a chef starting her own catering company, Caprice Catering. Floreida also served as a member of the Jayceettes, a community organization in Hazlet, NJ and brought her faith, belief in equality, and dedication to service to her community there. She believed all people were equal in the eyes of God and had great empathy for the poor and respect for human rights and workers’ rights, serving as Shop Steward for the Teamsters Union in Red Bank, NJ. Above all else, she would say her greatest accomplishment was raising her 5 children. Floreida dedicated herself in every way to teaching her children to work hard, strive to succeed, and do the best they could with what God gave them. She imbued in them the value of self reliance, good intention, and above all, the importance of family. She supported and encouraged and inspired them with a calm voice and a kind heart.
